Sports and Recreation

The enthusiasm of the local fans, the gorgeous scenic backdrop of the city, the infrastructure and the entertainment options manage to keep Kelowna at the forefront in hosting sporting events.

In 2004 Kelowna played host to the Memorial Cup (and the Kelowna Rockets won!). Kelowna was an excellent host city and managed to make every game a sell-out.  Kelowna has also hosted the 2010 Canadian Masters' Badminton Championships, in 2007 Kelowna hosted the Special Olympics BC Winter Games, and hosted the 2002 World Junior Curling Championships. In addition to this selection of premiere sporting events, a variety of sporting and recreational events of all levels take place each year.

Kelowna Sport & Recreation Opportunities

Okanagan Mission Tennis Club
Featuring 6 courts, there is plenty of space and very little waiting. Main season runs from April to October, but there is opportunity to play most of the year.

Kelowna Judo
The Kelowna Judo Club is a non-profit martial arts organization founded in 1953, run by skilled black belts teaching the Sport of Judo to all ages, males or females for recreation or competition.

Kelowna Badminton Club
The Kelowna Badminton Club, one of the oldest incorporated Badminton Clubs in Canada, is located in the heart of the Okanagan.

Central Okanagan Sailing Association
One of the biggest and best sailing schools in Canada offers lessons for students aged 6 to 69.

Kelowna Dragon Boat Club
Join us for fun, fitness and quality time on beautiful Lake Okanagan! We welcome anyone 13 years of age and over.
