The Okanagan Valley: A Beautiful Place to Call Home
The Okanagan Valley is located in the southern interior of British Columbia. The area is known for its dry, sunny climate, lakeshore communities and recreational lifestyle. Agriculture has always played a focus in the region. In the past fruit orchards were the biggest players in the agricultural community. There has been a recent shift towards vineyards and wine.
The geography of the Okanagan Valley is what sets it apart and makes it an ideal place to live and visit. There are a variety of lakes and rivers in the valley including Kalamalka Lake, Mara Lake, Okanagan Lake, Osoyoos Lake, Shuswap River, Swan Lake, Skaha Lake, Vaseaux Lake and Wood Lake. With the Monashee mountains as the idyllic backdrop, scenic panoramic views can be found throughout the valley.
Kelowna is the largest city in the Okanagan Valley. It is the shopping, dining, cultural and sporting mecca within the region. North of Kelowna you will find the communities of Lake Country, Vernon, Armstrong and Enderby. South of Kelowna you have West Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Naramata, Okanagan Falls, Oliver and Osoyoos. The drive from Osoyoos in the south to the community of Enderby in the north is approx. 212 km.
