We had an amazing day volunteering our time and energy with Habitat For Humanity Okanagan. It was so great to see our Nyrose and Associates REALTORS® and administrative team out working hard and giving back to our local community of West Kelowna.

What is HABITAT FOR HUMANITY OKANAGAN?

Habitat for Humanity Okanagan is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity Canada, a non-profit housing organization. Habitat for Humanity’s model empowers families to invest in home ownership. They believe every family should have safe, decent, affordable housing.

Habitat for Humanity is all connected to a common purpose: Building a stronger community through affordable homeownership.

[/row]Habitat homes are built with donated labour, resources and funds before being sold to a family through a geared-to-income, interest-free mortgage. The family contributes volunteer hours towards their home’s construction.

“Habitat for Humanity homeowners are required to complete 500 hours of volunteer work prior to homing their Habitat home. The homes are sold to qualifying local families at fair market value with no down payment and a 0% interest mortgage. Habitat is helping hard working families that would not otherwise be able to enter the housing market.” said Chris Wirtz , Manager of Build Services & Corporate Partnerships for Habitat for Humanity’s Okanagan.

Feels good to give back....

Being in the Real Estate business, selling homes to homeowners, it seemed fitting we GIVE BACK to homeowners. Today was challenging and rewarding as a company, and as a team.  But it taught the team at Nyrose & Associates that even the smallest tasks can make a real difference in the bigger picture. This may have been our first experience with Habitat for Humanity Okanagan, but it won’t be this teams last.
