It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas throughout the streets of Kelowna.
Does your family enjoy driving around Kelowna to marvel at all the Christmas lights? For many, this activity is a family tradition. Grab everyone a peppermint hot cocoa, put on your favourite Christmas tunes (classic? country? pop?) and take a drive through the residential neigbhourhoods of Kelowna.
Already, there are so many displays of holiday cheer. Here are some streets and neighbourhoods not to be missed.
Kelowna’s Candy Cane Lane
Rutland is home to Kelowna’s very own Candy Cane Lane. Each year, about 70 homes band together to light up their homes and bring joy to others. You’ll find Candy Cane Lane along Collison Road, Gramiak Road and Merry Court. The neighbourhood collects items for the food bank. You can drop your donations off in a bin located on the corner of Gramiak and Collison Roads. Visit Candy Cane Lane’s Facebook Page for more information.
Kettle Valley is known for a great display of lights (just as these homes are known for going all-out with their halloween decor, too). Drive or walk about the neighbourhood and ooh and aah at the decorations. Whether you like multi-colour, classic white, or fun and crazy, you’ll see a little of everything.
Wilden holds a Christmas light display contest for its residents. Take a drive or walk through the various Wilden neighbourhoods and decide which home is your favourite. Then, turn to social media. On Dec. 15, participating homes will have a photo published on Wilden’s Facebook page. You have until Dec. 22 to vote for your favourite. You do not have to live in Wilden to vote! Visit Wilden’s Facebook Page for more information.
Rose Valley / Shannon Lake
Rosemary Court is the highlight street in Rose Valley come Christmastime. Every year, the homes in this cul-de-sac go all out for the holidays. Drive through the rest of the neighbourhood as so many of the residents share their Christmas spirit too. Then, head over to Shannon Lake. On the way, take a detour to Bentley Road where this neighbourhood has some homes that are worthy of your collective oooh’s.
As Kelowna Real Estate agents, we love driving around and checking out the lights. It provides us with a great opportunity to visit all the various neighbourhoods and we consider it a bit of market research. But truly, the big joy comes from seeing that throughout all the neighbourhoods and streets in Kelowna, there are people who take great pride in showcasing their holiday spirit through their homes.
Homes For The Holidays
Did you know one of our listings was all dressed up for the holidays as part of Kelowna’s Home For The Holidays tour back in November? It’s a great example of tastefully decorating a modern home.
Head over to our Facebook Page to have for a peak at how this home was decorated inside and out for Christmas.
