There are a lot of real estate specialists, and that's not a bad thing. After all, someone with specialized knowledge will know a LOT about their specialty and will quickly gain experience. But, there's more to a real estate transaction than just knowing the neighbourhood. There's the history, the projections, how it fits within the whole local market, your property type, condition of the home, and so on.

Think of it like hiring a travel agent. If you're planning a trip to Hawaii, it's probably more important that you have an experienced travel agent than an agent who only books Hawaii trips. And you certainly don't want to use a person who only books cruises. Ideally, you want to use a recommended travel agent with a full breadth of experience, including Hawaii. And, if you can find an agent you like who is a part of a team (with other travel agents who have been to Hawaii, too) you are likely to get the best recommendations and bookings for your trip. And, should something go wrong before, during or after your trip, you have the benefit of a well-versed, seasoned travel agent on your side.
